So for the many that know me, I don't shop at Wal-mart. I hate the place - small isles, people who don't pay attention and the place is packed...and then my above all pet peeve - when people open up soda's or bags of chips and EAT them before the pay for them. It's drives me bananas! The other main reason was Jeff's dad has worked for Schnucks for over 30 years and he's a stickler on the super market union crap. I didn't want to go for the fear of being yelled at later.
Well, last weekend, I was just fed up with Riley not paying attention, so I needed to get some inexpensive baby gates to put in our 2 guest bedrooms upstairs. I told myself, I'd head out to the Wal-Mart at N & 40. I get there, I'm pleasantly greeted by employee, and off I go in search of baby gates.
I walked in and I was completely blown away. It was like the size of Sam's or Costco, and the isles were HUGE! This was a Super Wal-mart so it had the groceries and what not. So I figured while I was there, I should price compare some of my every day items. So I took a look at dog treats, contact solution, deoderant, things like that and it's true, everything was cheaper.
So I get my baby gates and for $9 each and boogie out. I come home to tell Jeff what I did and he said it's now okay to shop at Wal-mart since Mark Andy (Jeff's Company) sells a press to them. Great.
So today, after I had to return my fabulous new patio umbrella because the base cracked to Linen's and Things, and make a quick detour to Old Navy to get some seersucker pants and a top (seriously $20 for everything! Deal!!), I was driving home and I realized I had my coupons...so where did I go? You guessed it, back to Wal-mart. I was there over an hour, and I think I had to have saved like $30. After coupons and sales, I walked out only spending. $70. Not too shabby. I bought all the usual household items and some groceries.
I guess I'll go every so often, but I'm loyal to Target. I love the bullseye! I guess I'm growing up...or realizing that if I save money elsewhere, I have more to go to the mall with...sweet!
