On the Quest for Bedding

When we first moved into our house about 3 years ago, we were gifted with my Dad's bedroom furniture which happened to be my grandparents furniture that they recived as a wedding gift back in the dinosaur era. It's actually fairly "modern" for older furniture, and we have plans to restain the cherry finish.

I had to act quickly because we were gifted a king sized bed. Whoo hoo and Boo hoo all at the same time. Whoo that we have more space, boo hoo that I had to now get bedding. 1) Bedding is insanely expensive for a piece of cotton and 2) Jeff and I don't have the same style when it comes to bedding.

So, I quickly ran to Macy's for a bed in a bag which was awful, but it got sheets and a comforter on the bed. Fast forward 3 years later and 1 washing of the comforter later, we have a big hole and pilling underneath the bedspread. Gross.  So, I've been looking for a compromise. We will be redecorating and painting this fall and removing the lovely wall border with tassles. Yes, it's bad.  I have been looking for a mix of floral and stripes to appease Jeff. I felt I had pick out some real winners and then I got the veto.

Well, yesterday Target had a Black Friday summer sale and all of the Liberty of London collection was on super sale. So, I started poking about and found a fantastic comforter/sham set with free shippping. I ran it by Jeff and approved. What the heck! I think it's super girly - but he approved. No complaints from me.

Now I'll have to go on the quest to see what I can do to match curtains, new sheets and a bedskirt. It's never ending. I may just hold onto the new stuff until we're completely redecorated for one of those fabulous before and after shots.

St. Louis - Eco Zipline Tours For $37!

On our honeymoon in St. Lucia, Jeff and I went on a Zipline Tour through the rainforest. I for one was terrified to do it, but I knew my then new hubby wanted some adventure. He also told me if I went he would buy me a new purse. He knows a way to a girls heart. After the first run, I actually had a really great time, and almost 3 years later we still talk about fun it was. I'm pretty much a weenie when it comes to this kind of stuff, but it definitetly fantastic.

Well, I came across the Living Social Deal today for Eco Zipline Tour is just outside St. Louis, and it sounds a fantastic fun. It's a company right by Hermann and sounds like the perfect day trip. for $37, you'll get to do 10 ziplines -which is usually a $75 value!  So, if you make it a day date, it's more than 1/2 price! Once you do your zipping, then just head over to the wineries for a relaxing afternoon.

From my research, it looks like you'll be able to get up to 50 miles an hour and there is a zipline over 1200 feet. Holy Cow -  I actually think this is longer and more ziplines than our honeymoon.

This would even be a great trip for kids, and with the price cut more than half, how can you not give it a whirl. I'm so excited to book our reservations and pack a picinic lunch and enjoy a great glass of wine.

So you can take advantage of this deal, you'll need to act this weekend. The deal ends on Sunday night!

I NEED to Have a Garage Sale!

I'm nesting. Odd - because there's no baby on board. But I have been dying to get rid of clutter in our house! I've been posting lots of stuff on eBay lately, and I've been posting some larger furniture items on Craigslist too. But, I've got an unfinished area full of junk that doesn't really fit in either place.

For real, what am I going to do with Kermit? He was my buddy all through college, but now he needs a happy home.  I tried putting all this junk on Craiglist for $5 or free but people want me to bring it to them and not drive to O'Fallon. - Psha!

Anyone need a Leopard Print? It was my Dad's 2nd wife's and she kindly left it when they got divorced.

And this fantastic Mirror - I bet it makes you look super skinny.

Or this weird thing you put unfront of a fire place with candles - kind of odd, because wouldn't the candles burn??

So, I'm planning a garage sale for August. I gotta get it done. I don't care if I make $20, I just want it all gone! I'll let everyone so if you want to rummage through our junk - you're more than welcome! One man's trash is another man's treasure!

I love it when...

You qualify for a market research study, you go there, they overbook the session, and I get to go home and still make $95! I get my 2 1/2 hours of my life back, and I still got a $95 giftcard AND I can qualify for the next study they call me on.

I love NOT getting picked!

Whoo hoo! That means I get to watch Secret Life....yea, I think I need to upgrade to non-highschool shows.
