Operation Garage Sale = Success!

Boy am I tired! Between the garage sale and our nephew staying the weekend, I am exhausted. Riley and Auggie get up early anyway, but I was up at 5:30 ready to start the garage sale.

I had talked to our next door neighbor and she had told me that people come around on Friday nights for a preview. But it's not advertised. I didn't really think anything of it until I got home yesterday and our other neighbor down the street was open for business. Crap! So I called Jeff up from the basement and we set up shop from about 5-8. We had a lot of people coming through too. So we made about $100 last night and then decided we need to sweep the house again for more stuff.

We set up shop with 4 tables and then the big items out front. We put Kermit front and center and he drew in lots of business. Most people were looking for baby things and video games which we had neither of.  But we were able to get rid of 2 TV's, a VCR, a jumbo computer monitor, 4 laundry hampers, place mats galore and lots of random stuff that was around the house.

We packed up shop around noon and we went from 4 tables of stuff down to 1 small table. Whoo hoo!  We had some big ticket items left over, so I got those posted on Craigslist tonight and hopefully we'll have those gone shortly.

For our first garage sale, we made $400 - which I don't think is too shabby b/c it's stuff you never intended on getting a return on your investment.

Now I have to go out and find a lamp for our bedroom. I sold the lamp - so now we're lightless for an evening. I was just so tired from the day I laid on the couch all afternoon - utterly useless.

On tap tonight is Cardinals baseball and a little shopping tomorrow for home items.

I'm thinking HomeGoods. Any other suggestions?

Sheep Go To Heaven...

...Goats go to hell!

I love that song! I was driving home and listening to the most fabulous Station - Pop2K - it's all the songs from 2000-2009 - it's soo awesome! So, of course, I had to share the awesomeness that is Cake - I love these guys - I have every one of their CD's and can sing every song. So for your enjoyment - Sheep Go to Heaven!

What's one of your favorite Bands of Y2K?

What I'm loving Now...

Happy Tuesday!  I figured I'd share what I'm loving right now. As it changes like the wind, I like to document and look back.

1.  Next Food Network Star - forget the Bachelorette. This show has more drama than you can shake your spatula at! I've been in love with Aarti the entire time. If she doesn't win, I just don't know what will happen! 4 left and I think I better start learning to cook Indian food. Curry anyone?

2. Friends & Family at Loft! - This little chickie is going to get into some HOT WATER this weekend. with 30% off at Loft, I think I may do more damage than good.  I still love this dress - it may be a keeper!

3. Individual Serve Hummus Cups - Oh how I love thee? Let me count all 16 ways in a pack. I went to CostCo on Sunday and they had Single Serve Cups. Yay! Jeff hates Hummus, so buying an insane container just doesn't make sense. They are perfect to take for snack at work. I've done it both days already. Soo tasey!  Hannah's Organic Hommus (that's how they spell it) is DA BOMB!

4. XM Radio - How have I survived almost 29 years without XM? Jeff had it in the Pilot when for 3 month trial. We ended up canceling and they offered him it for super cheap to stay a customer. So, while Jeff was renewing he sweet talked the gal into adding it to my car for 3 months for free.  Yahoo for me! So far, my favorite station is Alt Nation - Love!   I find it funny when my husband says, "Honey, you'll love 80's on 8 - that's your kinda channel". Oh, how he knows me well.

5. Mumford and Sons - This is band is amazing. Their debut song Little Lion Man is just fantastic.  No thanks to #4, I would have never known about them!  There is a potty word so ear muff your kiddos!

So tell me, what are you lovin' now??

Garage Sale Craziness!

So Saturday, our subdivision is having a garage sale. Sweet! When we bought my Dad's house, he left a lot of stuff that he didn't want or didn't need anymore. So, we have a basement full of junk that needs to come out. We've got 3 desks, lamps, books, picture frames, dishes, pots & pans - the works!

I've been working alone with this, and finally got Jeff on board late Sunday night. Until I told him he'd have to get up at 5:30 in the morning. Luckily, he's been a good sport and calling friends & family looking for folding tables, and then he'll help me move everything out. I want everything ready to go on Thursday night.

Apparently the flea market people come by on Friday nights - I really have no idea how all of this works - I'm totally winging it. I'm worried I'm going to over price everything. I feel like I should stick to $1 and $3 for some reason. We'll have everything done by noon on Saturday. Hopefully a few hours of hard work will pay off and get us enough money to redecorate our bedroom and guest bathroom.

So I went to Walgreens tonight and got my hot pink Sharpie and neon colored dot stickers. I'm on the quest make some moolah and declutter the house!

Any garage sale pointers?

Trying New Places on Date Night

I'm a big "alternative rock" gal. You wouldn't know it from my proper disposition. (Insert gagging sound here) Ha. Lately, they have been talking about Cusumano's Restaurant on the The Point.  Good for us because it is less than 2 miles from our house. So I asked Jeff if he'd be intersted in trying out a new place and he was up for it.

So last night we went on date night. Let me tell you, I think we are going to become regulars. They may all their salad dressings in house and everything was fantastic. I had spagetti and meatballs and they accidentally brought me the large size instead of the small.

Look at the size of those meatballs!!!

Jeff's was amazing.
I'm suprised I've never seen it before in St. Louis. It's Toasted Ravioli covered in sauce and cheese on top. It was life changingly good.

This was me - STUFFED. It doesn't even look like I touched my plate. I have what feels like 3 lbs of spagetti in my fridge for lunch for the next 3 days.

After dinner were debating on what we wanted to do, and Jeff's brother called and we ran Riley down to play with her cousin Auggie for an hour or so since they were out of town all day.

After the playdate, Jeff and I decided to get ice cream. So we went to one of Alyssa's favorite place Silky's!

I got the Elvis Pretzely, like I always do. BUT, I got the low fat custard with 120 calories per 1/2 cup serving. Let me tell you - DO NOT GET THE LOW FAT CUSTARD. It's not so good. Custard supposed to be bad for you, so just do it in ridiculous moderation.

Overall fantastic night with 2 happy campers!
