A Pop of Red

Apparently, I have a problem. I give people outfit compliments, but then tell you how you could make it better. It not something that I do on purpose. I'm not downing them, it's just how I think.I think I missed my calling as a stylist. I think of to quote Coco Chanel "Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions."  is what I was doing. I always think of how to make something and different. Yesterday at work, my friend Kate had a super cute black & white tweed sheath dress with a belt. I said she needed a pop of red. She's a red head, but it still would have worked.

Well, now it's become a joke since a few friends have just worn black and i've mentioned they needed a pop of red. And I've been doing it for a few month. Eek! So, this has been a daily occurence of who needs a pop of red. It's escalated so much that next week is Pop of Red week at work. It's with just about 10 of my buddies, but I think it will be fun!

So, starting Tuesday, the rules are you need to wear a pop of red. If you wear a pop of red, I'm bringing red velvet cupcakes. Sounds easy enough. I think it will be a fun way to poke fun at me and bring inspire team work. I know it's all out of love, but if you can't laugh at yourself, who can??

Do you have any quirky things that you do that are out there?

Who Wants to Wake Surf?

Sunday morning, Jeff's dad called and invited out to go on the boat. I love going on the boat! I packed up my SPF 6 Dry Oil and out I went. Bad idea! I got slightly toasty and wore oversized Sunny G's so I have a fantastic face tan. On top of the regular wakeboarding, the popular attraction of the day was wake surfing.

The gist is you're about 2 feet from behind  the boat with a rope, and the hope is that you can throw the rope back into the boat and surf the wake. Pretty cool. I'm not skilled with doing this but the Cowan men definitely can do it. Maybe one day, I'll feel skilled enough, but I'm a clutz, and probably couldn't get out of the water.

Copia Urban Winery

Saturday night, Jeff and I met up with my work friend Sara and her husband Jon for an evening at Copia Urban Winery. We made the reservation over a month ago with the intent of checking it out for Downtown Restaurant Week. So we met up and had a blast! I'd never been there before, and if you know the story of Copia, there was a fire back in 2008 that shut the whole place down until about a month ago.  I forgot to take photos since we had such a good conversation.
The great thing about Sara is she is my identical twin, except she's older and lives in Illinois. We get along great, and Jeff & Jon get along well too. We had reservations in the wine garden and the weather was so lovely that it had a nice breeze. There was a TV close buy so the guys could keep an eye on the awful 9-14 ball game.

There were lots of options for dinner, but the funny thing was, we all picked the same thing! Prime Rib. This was the biggest piece of prime rib I've ever had, and it was soo yummy! Everything was fantastic and the service was good. Jeff got to try a new beer that was from Europe - and he's quite the beer guy.

The Menu was quite extensive, but here's what we had:
  • Caesar Salad
  • Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Yukon gold whipped potatoes, fresh vegetables, horseradish cream and au Jus
  • Grand Marnier Crème Brulèe

I don't know if we could eat there all the time since it is quite pricey. But with the special it was great. This may be a great place for a special dinner, or birthday or anniversary.

Overall 2 thumbs up!
