So, the past couple of weeks, Jeff and I have been having some serious discussions about expanding the family. We've also been talking about the best way to go about doing this. After being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in late 2009, and I was put on Metformin and Yaz. After having some issues with Yaz and my gallbladder coming out in April, we switched to Ortho Tricycle-lo. Basically the combo of the 2 would regulate my cycle and help me ovulate on a regular basis. Another side affect of PCOS is weight gain. It all comes down to insulin resistant issues. Yee ha. After doing some significant research on the matter, it sounds like a low carb diet is going to be the best option for me. That means no bread, cakes cookies and most of all Soda. I'm allergic to diet soda, so it's cutting it out cold turkey.
After falling off the Jenny Craig wagon for some time over the summer, I'm back on the train. Starting tomorrow, I am going to be giving the South Beach Diet a whirl. When we went to Hermann the other day, I brought along the book and the cookbook because apparently I bought the book when it first came out. As I read the intro, it made sense. And if I am going to lose this weight that is associated to PCOS, then I should really stick to their reccomendations. The first 2 weeks are retraining your body. The good thing is that after 2 weeks, I can kind of eat normal.
Jeff is refusing to do this with me. He said he'd eat South Beach style for dinner, but he doesn't diet. He'll work out. The goal here is that the combo of South Beach and going back to the gym will help me lose hopefully 15 lbs before we go on vacation the first week on November.
I did buy a bikini and I plan on wearing it regardless.
