OMG The Urge is BACK!

Okay ya'll. I am SOO Jazzed. Yes, I said Jazzed. Why? THE URGE is Headlining Pointfest. For people outside of St. Louis, this means absolutely nothing. Back in High School, The Urge was an institution. They were the band to check out. They were the band I sneaked out of the house to see. The last time I saw of them was in college, SLU had the play at Spring Fling. It was one of the last times the played together. That was almost 10 years ago. 10 YEARS!!

So, on the way home from dinner tonight, we pulled up the Pointfest lineup, and there they were. The Urge. Now, Jeff doesn't like the Urge. He was in college when they were blowing up the STL. So they mean nothing to him. To me, it's everything. I remember I broke my watch in a mosh pit at Mississippi Nights seeing them. I had a t-shirt that my friend Brad bought me as a birthday present. Wow. All the memories!

So since we got home, I busted out all my Urge CD's. I can sing every one. There are very few bands that I can sing every song to. But, yes, this is one of them. I figured for my non-St. Louis readers and non Urge listening peeps, I found a music video for you. It was one of their more recent, less trashy songs. So enjoy!!

The Next 30 Days

For the next 30 days, things are changing. Big time changing. What that means for me is, my life may start to suck, just slightly. Hubs and I have some personal goals and this year we should hope to implement one of our big personal goals (add a rugrat to the Casa De Cowan) and I haven't lived up to my end of the bargain. So, I am going to be purging for the next 30 days. No shopping. No excessive spending. Yes, Starbucks, I'm talkin' to you. I gotta get myself in check.

This means a few things:

1) Back to the gym. Heck, if I pay for a gym membership, I should take full advantage, right?
2) Eating at home. That means - 5 planned meals a week. We are going to put together a food plan, and implement.
3) No Shopping. PERIOD. No clothes, no household goodies, manis/pedis. Nothing. The only shopping is going to be for necessities, like groceries.
4) Dessert once a week. I've gotten really bad about ice cream every night. I don't want the lb's to start sneaking up on me.
5) No FRIED foods. - This is a big one for hubs. He eats out quite a bit. But with his family heart history, this is something we are going to work on.

What we can take advantage of are some great summer time activities like Concerts downtown. Barenaked Ladies on the 23rd anyone? We'll be there! Movie nights - at home. I've had Black Swan for months, and I STILL haven't seen it.

So there you have it. Lifestyle Makeover Casa De Cowan style.

So to help with that mani/pedi I may very well need in the next few weeks, check out Robyn's World and her Go Spa giveaway! Maybe I'll get lucky and win!
