The YLC Superman Gala

I'm so proud to be apart of an amazing organization helping kids get off on the right foot to be able to have successful educational experience. I've been doing all of the coordinating for the Youth Learning Center's Social media for the past year, and I have to say it's been a lot of fun. This year they decided to have an gala to raise money for such an important cause. My grandparents have really been involved with this from the beginning, so it has been pretty cool to see how everything has panned out.

I was super excited that my BFFie (yes, I call her that) Melissa and her husband Ryan we were able to come too!

Isn't my honey cute? We got him a tie to match my dress. Yes, so cheezy, but I love it.

At the event they did a live auction. Meet Chloe. How adorable is she? Melissa REALLY wanted to take her home, but Ryan did the big veto on that. She is just the most adorable dog ever. Riley Sue could not handle a furry sister.

The clan.
If you look in the background, you can see Kim Massie. If you are in St. Louis and haven't heard her. Well, to put it lightly, this lady can wail! Check out some of her singing on her Myspace Page. Absolutely fantastic.

My Little brother Geoff was there too. I guess he's not so little, right? For the record,VERY confusing when your husband is a Jeff and brother is a Geoff.

I did a little bidding. I didn't win anything though. I just like yelling out numbers. Luckily, I stopped myself when they were getting into the high dollar items. But, some super cool items were auctioned off.

One of the auction items were original art work that were on doors. They had artists from around St. Louis create original works of art on doors and then the big doors were auctioned off. Think like the painted cows around the country.

So, as you can see, I wore heels. 2 inch heels. I went as short as I possibly could. Jeff really was not a happy camper that I went w/o the boot. But I wore it all day long and put it right back on this morning.

So, I just got a final tally and I think we were able to raise around $75,000! For a first time fundraising event, I'd say not too shabby.  AND I was photographed by Ladue News, so maybe I'll show up in there. Always looking for a glitterati moment! I'll post the photos from the photographer once they get posted.

My Love For My Keurig

2 years ago, I swore up and down that I needed a Keurig coffee maker. Don't mind the fact that at the time I didn't really drink coffee, and it was going to be used only to make tea. My mom ended up getting me one for Christmas. Fast forward to now, I'm a coffee addict. It's absolutely the weirdest thing ever. In 29 years, I decided NOW is that I want to drink coffee.

Go figure.

With the Keurig, it seems like there is a bazillion (yes, technical term) different flavors to chose from. I'm partial to the french vanilla myself. I was contacted by BzzAgent to try out a new Green Mountain Fair Trade Coffee. Yes, please! Sign this girl up.

Good old Columbian Coffee. Now, you learn something new everyday, so I was familiar with the concept of  fair trade, but I definitely got a little more education on what at means. Basically, the farmers are paid a fair price for their coffee and hard work. That makes sense to me. They follow high environmental standards and follow strict labor laws and practices. Sounds even better. A socially responsible concept for coffee. I like it.

In the end it results in better tasting and better produced coffee. I'm sure made with love as well.

If you check out their Facebook Page, they've got some coupons, and who doesn't love a coupon?

So tell me K-Cup Lovers,

 What is your favorite flavor?

I just looked on the Green Mountain page and they have a Decaf Caramel Vanilla. Perfect for before bedtime!

BzzAgent provided me with K-Cup samples of Green Mountain Fair Trade Coffee. All opinions are my own and in no way did they influence my opinion.

Holiday Card Time Already?

The short answer? Yes!

With almost less than 2 months to go before Christmas, it's time to start thinking about your holiday card options. Last year we had an awesome opportunity with  our holiday cards from Shutterfly and they were a HUGE hit. I mean HUGE! I think my favorite part what the thickness of the cardstock. It was a good sturdy card and we got lots of compliments.

This year, I'm so excited to be participating with Shutterfly again for a wonderful holiday card opportunity again! I've been checking out their site for card options. Here are a few of my favorites. But I won't tell you which one our card will be this year. So it can be a surprise! It may not even be one of these! I'm so sneaky.

Love this! I'm really into the retro looking Christmas Card

This is simple and awesome. Now we have to decide if Riley will be in our photo again this year!

I just love this one. I don't know if I'm picking ones with kids or I just like the color. I'm really into the black and white with a pop of color.

Tell me what kind of Christmas Card are you looking for this year?

Stay tuned, I'll have a giveaway here in the next few weeks compliments of Shutterfly!
